Saraki’s trial: DPC seeks Umar’s withdrawal

The Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) has said that the ongoing trial of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) can only be seen to be fair and transparent if Justice Danladi Umar withdraws from presiding over the case.

The party said it was disturbed by the multiple controversies, accusation of bias, violation of fundamental human rights, usurpation of the functions of the Code Of Conduct Tribunal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s double standard in the administration of justice in Bola Tunubu and Saraki cases as well as the attempt to amend the Code of Conduct Bureau/ Tribunal Act, due to glaring lacuna in the Act.
